Eusoff Conversations over Dinner

Dear Residents

The Eusoff Conversations over Dinner series is back! With more films for cross-cultural dialogue and learning, the themes of urbanization, modernity and youth will be explored in this semester.

Screening Citizen Dog for our first session, we invite all residents to watch Pod, a country boy who moves to Bangkok and stumbles upon an interesting journey as a worker in a sardine factory, becoming a security guard and eventually a taxi driver. He meets Jin, a maid who has her nose perpetually buried in a mysterious white book written in foreign language that she dreams of someday understanding. There is also the strange occurrence of Bangkok’s inhabitants growing tails and if Pod grows one, he'll just be one of the crowd, a 'Citizen dog’.

Intrigued? Join us as we discuss the issues brought forth in this movie, chaired by our E Block Resident Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Southeast Asian Studies, Dr Muhammad Arafat.
